- 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye recommended)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 pounds potatoes (Yukon Gold preferred)
- 1/2 cup milk or cream
- Chives or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Chop potatoes into chunks and place in salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15–20 minutes until tender.
- While potatoes cook, cut steak into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak bites in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes per side.
- When steak is nearly done, add minced garlic and remaining butter to skillet. Stir and cook for 30 seconds.
- Drain potatoes, mash with milk or cream, and season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Serve steak bites over mashed potatoes and garnish with chopped chives or parsley.
Notes
- Let steak sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking for more even results.
- Feel free to increase the garlic for a bolder flavor.
- Store leftovers in separate airtight containers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently.
- Swap mashed potatoes with cauliflower mash for a low-carb version.
